What happens in psychotherapy?

In the initial session, we will try to find out whether we can work together. And we look at the reasons as to why you have started in therapy.

In the following sessions, we focus partly on the themes formulated in the initial session, and partly on the themes which arise during the course of therapy.

I will put an effort into being there for you in your process, and I will be there for you in discovering and developing your resources and potential resources, so that you will experience personal growth.

But, to grow happens first and foremost by being with whatever is present at the moment in an accepting and loving way, rather than with what could have been, or with what is yet to come.

Change occurs whenever we have the courage to contain what is present within us at this very moment. And thus, our focus will be continuously on an acceptance of the emotions and thoughts present within you at the moment.

Our focus is that of an exploration of your thoughts and feelings, and of how it is to be you. And, we focus on the here-and-now interaction between us to explore your particular being.

In order for the therapy to be efficient, you must commit yourself to it. You are the one who's the expert in your experiences, and thus it's important that you are open and participating actively in the process.

The goal of the therapy sessions is to increase your awareness of your thoughts, emotions, bodily sensations, resources and potentials, and on how you find your purpose and meaning in your life, and how you express yourself, generally. And thus, it might be clearer to you as to which decisions for you to make.

I will do my utmost to make the encounter with you one of openness, respect and acceptance.
